They take reservation and offers a more updated decor compare to some older Cantonese restaurant, the prices are a bit higher and portion a bit smaller but overall decently spacious that can host large parties and with fast and polite services

If it wasn't for the horrendous wait, i would've given 5 stars. Because the food was amazing, like some of the best cantonese food i've had in the states. We waited an hour to get seated and the whole system of waiting sucked. They kept seating groups after us, it didn't really feel like they went in order from top to bottom. I know sometimes restaurants skip around depending on party size but most of the groups were 2-4 people. As for food, I highly recommend the garlic fried chicken! I could eat this every day. Coconut Walnut shrimp was good too and the sticky rice. They give a lot of pea shoots and lo mein, but I think I would go for something different next time. Overall, the noise level was decent, I didn't have to shout

Location: Chinatown, Manhattan: Accessible by N, R, Q or 6 trains @ Canal Street Subway Station is the closet walking distance to this restaurant. Wait time: Came here on a Thursday evening around 6:40pm. The wait for 3 was about 20 mins. Party will not be seared unless your whole party is present. Reservations are accepted (wish I did my research before heading over haha). There's a good sized waiting area with metal stools. Food: We ordered 3 dishes: Peking Pork, Stuffed Eggplant /Stuffed Pepper/ Stuffed Tofu and a lamb stew plus one bowl of white rice and a bowl of brown rice. Each entree was huge, tasty, authentic and tasted fresh. Service: Our server, Daisy was AMAZING! She was so attentive to our needs without us even asking. She refilled our tea 3 X plus, gave us extra napkins and even changed our plates. Definitely one of the best services I have ever received any restaurant and I've been to many. The owner Uncle Lou also stopped by our table and asked how everything was (I thought he was the mgr but found out he was the owner from our waitress). Another male waitstaff also checked in on us during our meal. I have to say service is amazing! Ambiance: The decor is inviting with red lanterns hung around the restaurant along with wooden walls. They also have a bar if you're in the mood for alcoholic drinks. There are 2 unisex restrooms that were clean and had bathroom hooks on the door. One was larger so it should be handicap accessible and large enough you can push a stroller in to change your baby's diaper if needed. Pricing & Portion: The portion was generous and pricing was affordable. They offer a 9% CASH discount. We even had leftovers to take home. Our bill including over 20 percent tip was $100 in cash for 3 huge Entrees and 2 bowls of rice shared. If you're lower Manhattan and want authentic Chinese food with great service and ambience then you need to give this restaurant a try!

A great Cantonese restaurant to eat family style with friends or family. We had the eggplant, general tsao's chicken, pea shoots, crispy noodles, seafood soup, and beef with okra.

A friend hosted their birthday dinner here at Uncle Lou. I personally have never been, which was shocking to a handful of attendees as it was proclaimed as the best Cantonese restaurant in Chinatown. So what did I eat here? I wouldn't be able to point specifically to the exact menu item as the party host did all the ordering while the rest of us chatted away. The dishes here are for sure fantastic to do family size to be shared with the entire table, although the Walnut Shrimp disappeared really fast, so I was only able to eat two shrimps and a handful of broccoli. Loved the roasted duck, but seems like it's not the Peking Duck, so can't tell you which duck on the menu. The sea bass was also another highlight (I think it's called Steamed Buffalo Fish w Ginger & Scallion in the menu), but contains bones so be wary of that so you don't choke. The Yeung Chow Fried Rice is a great sharable dish. There was a Fried Salt & Pepper Seafood dish which I don't think is worth it. Overall, it was a great experience and it is great for parties and large gathering, which is typical for a Cantonese restaurant.

This was my favorite meal in NYC! Two adults and two kids and we split a few dishes with plenty to take home. It was packed but they had a great system for keeping things moving and the wait didn't feel that long. Will definitely return when I visit NYC again!

Found this spot on Tik Tok and was so glad we went. We wanted to check out China town during our visit to NY. This is def a good introduction. We waited 1hr to be seated as the restaurant was bustling busy. Once we were seated our server who was gracious and kind took our order and the food didn't take long to come out. We had the Crispy Garlic chicken - 7/10, pretty decent and had lots of garlic. I kind wished this dish had a sauce with it. We also enjoyed the Ginger Rice - 8/10 was actually pretty good. Lo mein noodles w/veg 7-10, fresh veggies and the noodles were good. Overall, a good experience and suggest trying it out while in China Town

Pretty good old school Chinese-American food in Chinatown in a slightly updated setting. Standouts of the meal included the siumai dimsum and the duck in mushroom sauce, which was juicy and tender and came virtually smothered with mushrooms. The sauce itself is a brown sauce that was basically the same as anything they cover other vegetable medley dishes in though, so if you want more variety of taste, be aware. The decor is funky, but man are the acoustics rough - at 75% capacity, it was so loud that you could barely talk to the people across the table.

Such a great first experience at Uncle Lou! I need to come back with a big group to try more food. I had jury duty so decided to stop by during my lunch break. Who knew this place would be FULL on a Monday at 1pm. Luckily I was solo and was immediately sat at the bar. They started off with some water and tea. This place is family style so unfortuantely only had one dish. Fortunately, that one dish was great. I had the Chicken in Yuxiang Garlic Sauce. I accidentally ordered this but am so happy I did. It had the perfect combo of tasty chicken and vegetables. I did order a side of small rice. This was more than enough for one person. They do give a % discount if you pay cash, but you can also pay by card if you hit a minimum. (Cash is always best when in china town.) Can't wait to come back!

We came to grab a bunch of dishes for takeout - the food here is quite solid and their lobster yee mein is one of the best - as the dining in experience can be more than a little hectic with the number of tourists and micro/nano influencers with their smartphones. Grab the crispy garlic chicken, lobster noodles, and fried red snapper in sweet and sour sauce for a nice spread that encompasses land and sea (and a good variety of flavors and textures). They also gave us a complimentary house soup, which was light and perfect opener. We will be back, at least to grab food to-go. Their special dishes (garlic chicken, lobster noodles) are extreemly well-executed and worth the trip.
